Random Act of Kindness in Simpsonville
What a nice surprise for an 88 year-old shopper in Bi-Lo in Simpsonville! She was shopping for her weekly groceries. She had just put five frozen dinners in her buggy when a man stopped and asked her if the dinners were good. She told him that she liked them. He said, "Well, get five more. My wife and I would like to buy your groceries today."
She was introuduced to his wife who told her they liked to do this and she was the one they chose today. They told her to fill her buggy and they would meet her at the cash register. After protesting that she could not accept, she finally agreed that she would get just the items she came for and needed.
They met her at the register and paid for what she had in her buggy. The woman spoke to the girl at the register and the clerk handed her a card.
When she got home, our surprised shopper received a call from the couple. They told her the card was a $50 gift card she could use to buy anything she wanted at Bi-Lo.
What a blessing was received by this random act of kindness!
GREENVILLE, S.C. (2/7/2008) — South Carolina Charities, Inc., the foundation of the BMW Charity Pro-Am, has chosen 52 additional charities to participate in its inaugural ticket sales program.
In addition to the 22 charitable beneficiaries announced in November, these 501(c)(3) organizations have the opportunity to sell $25 Patron (General Admission) tickets and retain 100 percent of the proceeds. As part of the program, each charity will also be encouraged to recruit as many volunteers as possible.
“We are confident that bringing the tournament to three courses in the heart of our community will lead to record attendance and allow even more charities to participate,” said Bobby Hitt, president of South Carolina Charities, Inc. “This program is an excellent way to financially support these 52 organizations. The charities can raise a lot of money by selling as many tickets as they are able to.” (click here to read full story)

On Friday morning, October, 5, 2007, Tom and Teresa Cothran, along with their daughter, Tara, were awaken at 4:30am to the worst news a parent can receive…your child has been in an accident and is in ICU at the hospital. Your mind starts racing, can I get there in time, is everything going to be ok or is he/she going to make it?
Having never been through this kind of situation, I can’t even begin to think how they must have felt as they traveled to Columbia from Mauldin. One thing
I do know is that the 90 minutes it took to get there must have seemed like an eternity. Having lost a cousin in an automobile accident, I could only know the pain that I felt at that time and it is not even a tenth of what a parent must feel.
Taylor Cothran lived for almost a week after a horrible fall from his dorm window at the University of South Carolina. October 11, 2007, Taylor passed from this earth, as we know it into the loving arms of Jesus. Now the pain intensified. How does a parent cope with the death of such a young child? How does a sibling cope with the lost of a sibling? Family? Friends? [click here to read full story]
